In occasione della terza prova del campionato europeo in Spagna sono emersi i problemi che già erano stati avanzati alcuni mesi fa. La pista di Alonso presenta dei cordoli eccessivamente sporgenti che stanno causando problemi ai telai e soprattutto ai piloti.

Sul circuito delle Asturie i piloti hanno cercato di attivare una contestazione ancora prima delle qualifiche.
Più di qualche pilota è stato costretto a iniezioni di antidolorifici per il dolore alle costole provocato dall’impatto del kart nel passare sopra i cordoli particolarmente sporgenti. E poi c’è la mole di lavoro da parte dei meccanici costretti a raddrizzare le scocche sul piano di riscontro.
Il nuovo circuito Fernando Alsonso risulta particolarmente stressante sia per i piloti che per i kart, e questo ha evidenziato un certo malumore nel paddock. Ralf Schumacher responsabile del proprio Team KSM Schumacher ha poi pubblicato sulla sua pagina Facebook il suo parere.
"I'm very disappointed about this Race because we face a very unusual situation: "For the first time since I joined karting back again it feels totally wrong to race at a track like this. Don't get me wrong but I was trying to explain back in January after testing here for three days that the layout of the track is not the one we should be racing on at a CIK or FIA level. Now we are here and we destroy more material than you could imagine . This race is going to cost a fortune for all participants and only because a decision been taken by people that don't understand the need of karting. On top of that we risk the health of our drivers which again is unbelievable . One can only hope that people start to listen to the teams that we can avoid this in the future."
